Buyer responsibility
Buying safely on BidBuy
- 1
BidBuy is not a party to the sale
The contract is between you and the seller. BidBuy provides the auction software and passes on contact details at the close. We are not the seller, an agent or a guarantor.
- 2
We do not verify anything
Not the seller’s identity, not the item, not whether it is genuine, not whether the seller owns it or has the right to sell it. Listing text and photos are the seller’s alone.
- 3
We never hold your money
There is no escrow and no buyer protection. Payment goes directly from you to the seller, so the checks before you pay are the only protection there is.
- 4
Your bids are binding
A bid is an offer to buy at that price if you win. Bid only on what you have checked and can pay for.
- 5
Do your own checks — always
See the item in person before paying. For watches, jewellery and luxury goods, insist on original papers and have it authenticated by an independent specialist. For cars, check the reg, NCT and finance. For property, use a solicitor and a surveyor. Meet somewhere public.
- 6
Walk away from red flags
A price far below market, a seller who will not meet or let you inspect, pressure to pay first, or requests for gift cards, crypto or transfers to a third party. Report the listing to us — we remove listings that break our rules.
By registering to bid you confirm you have read and accept this. To the fullest extent the law allows, BidBuy.ie (Conjora Limited) is not liable for any loss arising from a sale between a buyer and a seller, including an item that is not genuine, not as described, not owned by the seller, or not delivered. Nothing here limits any right you have against the seller.
Suspicious listing? Report it and we will review it.
